The Bagua Big Sabre

Excerpt:
"Now THIS is a knife" - When I first held my Bagua Big Sabre, Crocodile Dundee's famous line came unbidden to my mind. Five foot long and eight pounds in weight, it is a heavy beast of a weapon, and yet, as any good sword, it plays like it is alive in the hand. Bagua Zhang (Eight Trigram Palm) is one of the rarest of the Chinese martial arts. And one of its distinctive modes of training for which Bagua is famous in China is the use of unusually large and heavy weapons.

Eight Animal Postures of Yin Style Bagua

Excerpt: A common feature of almost all Bagua styles is a training method known as the Eight Mother Palms (Ba Mu Chang). These normally consist of Eight Postures, which are used while walking the circle. They are used as a preliminary training method before introducing a student to the practice of the moving palm changes. The purpose of this article is to introduce this training method as it is practiced in the Yin Fu Eight Animal System as taught by Dr Xie Peiqi.

"The Single Palm Change: Baguazhang's Fundamental Movement" by Mark Jensen -- Student

Excerpt:
Since I have been practicing Baguazhang (Eight Trigram Palm) at Lam Kwoon, I have had other students come up to me and ask "What the heck are you doing?" They see me walking around in a circle, making a few movements, and then walking in the other direction. What is it? Surely it's not Hung Gar or Shaolin. Is it Tai Chi? I guess I have to laugh when I think of it from their viewpoint.

Baguazhang is a Dim-Mak art by Eli Montaigue

Dim-Mak literally means "Death Point Striking" whereby the practitioner is taught to strike to either one, or multiples of dim-mak points in the human body causing effects that range from a simple knock out to maiming and death, or even effects that manifest many years from when the strike was felt.

Every movement in Baguazhang has a meaning and is aimed at the dim-mak points. Bagua is often referred to as "the art of overkill".
